What does Southern Sky AI do?
Southern Sky AI brings together AI systems, creative production and industry intelligence. Southern Sky Systems covers AI Blueprints, management systems and deployment. Southern Sky Studio builds websites, marketing agents and creative content. Southern Sky Intelligence publishes research and reports.
How does governance fit into AI adoption?
It means making conscious decisions about AI before, during, and after implementation. Which tools are appropriate. What data they can touch. Who is accountable for outputs. What the organisation sanctions and what falls outside scope. Governance-led adoption produces documented direction that leadership can refer to, defend, and build on. The alternative is adoption by default, where AI arrives through vendor updates and staff experimentation without anyone having decided.
Who is this designed for?
Organisations that want useful AI systems, a stronger digital presence or a clearer understanding of the opportunities and risks. Our experience is rooted in maritime and superyachting, and we welcome enquiries from other industries.
How is this different from a typical AI consultancy?
Southern Sky AI combines maritime operational experience, legal training and hands-on AI implementation. The Log Book records completed work and the results clients have achieved.
Who founded Southern Sky AI?
Kristina Agustin, Founder and Principal. Twenty-plus years in international superyacht and maritime operations. Legally trained (LLB, Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice). What is the Blueprint?
The AI Blueprint examines your workflows, existing tools, opportunities and risks, then sets out an implementation plan. The scope is agreed around your organisation and what you want AI to support.
What does Deploy involve?
AI deployment puts assistants and systems into the workflows your team uses. It includes configuration, testing, human review and support for the people using them.
What training does Southern Sky AI offer?
AI training helps teams use their tools with confidence, understand what needs checking and apply the organisation's AI policies in their work. Sessions are scoped to the team and its operating context.
What is Navigator?

Where do training and the Learn series sit?
Team training is part of Southern Sky Systems. The Learn series provides foundational AI education through Southern Sky AI's Chart Room.
How do you approach data sensitivity and confidentiality?
Every engagement begins with an AI Use Policy that classifies what data is appropriate to load into a working environment and what is not. Crew personal data under GDPR and the Australian Privacy Act, client financial data, medically sensitive information, and flag state confidential correspondence are examples of categories that require specific handling. The policy is produced before any configuration begins, and clause-level traceability shows exactly which obligation each rule is responding to.
Does AI replace people in this model?
No. AI augments judgment. The team remains in control of decisions. AI handles the execution of well-defined tasks within documented boundaries. The AI Use Policy makes this explicit for every engagement, and the Implementation Plan says who is accountable for each output.
How do you handle GDPR and Australian Privacy Act obligations?
These obligations sit inside the 222 verified obligations across 25 jurisdictions that Southern Sky AI tracks. They are mapped during Blueprint and reflected in the AI Use Policy for every deployment. Southern Sky AI does not provide legal advice, and works alongside your legal advisors so the governance layer reflects your specific regulatory position.
What about cybersecurity?
AI governance and cybersecurity are related but distinct disciplines. Southern Sky AI focuses on AI governance: appropriate use, data boundaries, accountability, and documented direction. Cybersecurity infrastructure is a separate engagement that Southern Sky AI can map during Blueprint and refer to appropriate specialists.
We already have AI tools in use. Can you still help?
Yes. Most organisations come to Southern Sky AI with AI already present in management software, communication platforms, and scheduling tools. Blueprint classifies the exposure and sequences what to address first. Starting with existing tools is the norm.
Does this work across vessels and shore offices?
Yes. Southern Sky AI works across distributed operations, including vessels and shore offices, multiple locations, and international teams. Governance documentation and client materials are accessible from anywhere.
Is this only for large organisations?
No. Southern Sky AI works with organisations of every size, from single-vessel yacht programs and owner-led marina operations through to multi-vessel management companies and enterprise operators. Pricing and scope are determined by complexity and governance weight, not headcount.
How does this align with maritime regulations?
ISM, ISPS, MLC, GDPR, the Australian Privacy Act, flag state requirements, and port state control obligations all sit inside the 27 regimes and the 222 verified obligations tracked across engagements. Southern Sky AI does not replace regulatory compliance advisors, and it ensures AI adoption decisions are made with those obligations in view.
What if our leadership team is not aligned on AI?
Misalignment is common and is one reason the Blueprint exists. Reading the position against 27 regimes gives leadership a shared, evidence-based starting point that informal conversation cannot. The Blueprint interview process surfaces different perspectives across the leadership group and produces a position the organisation owns collectively.
Is this relevant for marina businesses?
Yes. Marina operators are navigating the same governance gap as every other maritime organisation. AI has arrived through management software, booking platforms, and communication tools, and adoption decisions were often not made at leadership level. How does delivery work for international or distributed organisations?
